Policy

Working with employers is, and will continue to be, at the heart of all of Proskills’ activities. However, our core funding from the UKCES is predicted to drop by 10% per year over the next three years, and this will mean that our work will need to change in some ways. Most notably, we will need to generate more income through our project and commercial activities – these changes and the more general ways in which we will take our work forward over the next three years are described in more detail in the new Proskills Group Business Plan.

As part of raising the profile of the sector, we are now taking a more proactive role in the skills landscape across the UK. As well as responding to requests and consultations from national and regional governments, Proskills is also now generating ideas on skills, training and qualifications strategies and policies to take forward to stakeholders and partners.

These policies will:

  1. Reflect the evidence from our primary and secondary research
  2. Influence policy makers to introduce changes which will benefit employers and people
  3. Push the boundaries of current thinking
  4. Influence skills system simplification and reform.
