Standards & Qualifications
Proskills remit is to develop industry relevant standards and qualifications in response to industry need in collaboration with our employers, training providers and awarding bodies.
This work is carried out in the context of our Qualifications Reform Groups. There is one for each of the industries we represent. The role of these groups is to develop and review new and existing standards and qualifications to meet the increasing demands of business. They therefore play an important role in ensuring the right training provision is in place to support investment in skills.
Standards and Qualifications we develop include:
- National Occupational Standards (NOS) – the building blocks of vocational qualifications that define the competencies an individual requires in order to do their job effectively and productively
- National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) / Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQ) – nationally recognised qualifications.
- Foundation Degrees – work-based learning that offer your staff an opportunity to improve their skills on the job, combining work-based learning with technical, business, management and personal skills.
- Apprenticeship Frameworks – work-based training programmes that allow individuals to learn and earn at the same time by combining on and off the job training. They represent one of the best ways to develop the skills your business needs.
Sector Qualifications Strategy:
A Sector Qualifications Strategy has been developed with our employers for each of our industries and nations. This is essentially a top level action plan for the future development of qualifications in industry.
