• UK coatings and ink producers had a total turnover of over £2.2 billion
• The coatings sector in the UK employs over 15,000 people
• Coatings manufacturers supply printing inks for printing around 14 million newspapers every day just for the UK
• Five of the largest manufacturers of coatings in Europe are based in UK
• A large percentage of the UK workforce would be unable to complete their work if all the products and materials they use that have coatings on them were taken away
• There are over 30 million "Do It Yourself" (DIY) painters and decorators in the UK that together use around 200 million litres of paint and over 100 millions rolls of wallpaper every year
