Productivity and Competitiveness (PAC)
It is critical that businesses from the UK engineering, manufacturing and process industries improve their productivity and competitiveness if they want to be able to compete on an increasingly competitive global market.
The PAC Initiative which is being spearheaded by the Manufacturing and Skills Alliance
sets out to do that.
With a three-pronged approach aimed at Businesses, Training Providers and Experienced Engineers and Technical Analysts, the initiative aims to encourage the uptake of the PAC programme as well as to build the necessary capacity to deliver and assess.

Sector Skills Agreement
Sector Skills Agreements (SSAs) are fundamentally altering the way skills are demanded, delivered and developed throughout the UK.
Put simply, SSAs are about supply-side management. In other words, they are designed to give employers the opportunity to shape the development of training to meet short, medium and long-term business needs.
Proskills will collaborate with employers to identify their current and future requirements and propose how they can best be met. Afterwards, they consult the organisations that supply and fund education and training.

The Business Case for Training - Case Studies
Demonstrating the business case for training was identified as a priority in Proskills Sector Skills Agreement report in 2006. Nine case studies were written to show the positive impact training cn have on a business. All of the case studies can be accessed on this page.
Health & Safety
Proskills is taking a lead role in a major review of health and safety training and qualifications on behalf of the Skills for Business Network. The aim is to significantly simplify employers’ ability to compare and evaluate health and safety standards and training courses available. The project will potentially result in the development of core ‘entry-level’ qualifications and training courses that would be applicable across multiple industry sectors; courses that ultimately become integrated into the curricula for schools and other educational establishments, ensuring school-leavers and other new entrants to the work environment have attained a basic awareness of health and safety issues and to promote sharing of best practice across the various sectors.
