Proskills is responsible for ensuring (in conjunction with employers) that qualifications emerging in our sector are relevant and deliver skills that lead to employment, or enhance the effectiveness of employees. We have a dedicated team that maintains standards, and helps to develop qualifications and programmes such as the apprenticeship scheme.

Sector Qualifications Strategy

The Sector Qualifications Strategy (SQS) is a high level document that will be used to inform more detailed work on the development of qualifications that will meet the needs of the Proskills Sector.

Occupational Standards

Describe in detail the knowledge and capabilities that a person should have to be able to undertake a particular job. The standards are usually used to construct qualifications, but they have a variety of uses – from developing job descriptions to quality procedures. Vocational Qualifications Approvals

Proskills is piloting a process by which Sector Skills Councils 'approve' vocational qualifications. The pilot encompasses all vocational qualifications developed within the Proskills footprint and covers all vocational qualifications that are to be accredited onto either the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) or the Qualifications Credit Framework (QCF).
