Twin with a local school & invest in your future workforce
This autumn, Proskills is launching 4 new Schools into Industry Programmes to introduce schools and students to the extractives, building products, glass, furniture making and glazed ceramics industries and this is your chance to benefit from working with a local school.
Proskills Twinning scheme links schools with local companies who offer advice and support to teachers and students. This could range from supplying literature on their company, giving a talk on the various job roles, to hosting a site visit for the students.
Proskills Students and Schools into Industry Programmes have been designed to show students that manufacturing is an exciting and dynamic industry that provides a good career choice.
The schools programmes aim to excite, enthuse and educate young people about the opportunities that are available to them.
The PrintIT! scheme, as the first of its kind, is a major industry-backed programme designed to teach young people about the exciting world of printing and its related industries and to encourage learners to consider a career path related to the UK printing industry.
PrintIT! has proved to be a uniting force for the print industry since its inception in 2005, and has engaged with over 1,000 schools and more than 100,000 students in the UK over the past 5 years.
Over 100,000 students have taken part so far and research has shown that 68% of students are now looking for work experience in the print industry and 31% expressed an interest in working in print after taking part in PrintIT!
The 4 new programmes each entail students researching and designing eco-friendly products for these industries using manufacturing techniques & materials which are sustainable. Programmes are mapped to relevant parts of the 14-19 curriculum, they are limited to a few weeks duration & they are free to use.
There is no point in stimulating students’ interest unless they can directly relate it into real jobs and it is important that employers get involved and are willing to invest their time to give students and teachers an opportunity to witness firsthand what goes on in the industry.
