Dudson win Education Award
The Staffordshire Business and Education Awards were presented at a ceremony at the County Showground on 13th July, where Dan Goodall – Design Director and Wes Auden – HR Manager, were delighted to receive the Employer Engagement Award 2009-2010, on behalf of ceramic tableware manufacturer Dudson Ltd.
The awards are sponsored by the Staffordshire Partnership, whose members work with key local organisations to support, deliver and broker opportunities for young people. The awards recognise the contribution made by local employers to the curriculum, and in particular, new Diplomas that were introduced last year. Dudson hosted the launch of the Manufacturing and Product Design Diploma and has demonstrated commitment in engaging with local schools and colleges, hosting events and factory tours and providing design challenges for students. One project for 13 year old children was to develop a mug handle, while a subsequent challenge for Diploma students was the design of a lithograph decoration for a Regent Theatre mug.
Dudson was nominated for the award, (sponsored by the City of Stoke-on-Trent Council Children and Young People’s Directorate), by Will Potts, Vice-Principal of Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College and Andrew Galletley of the Staffordshire Partnership. Always keen to promote career opportunities within the ceramic manufacturing industry, Dudson is particularly pleased to win the award, (presented by Gill Howell from the Directorate), in the face of stiff competition from other manufacturers in the city.
