Proskills 2011 Awards celebrates the sectors star performers
The 2011 Proskills Awards were held in a glittering ceremony at Alton Towers on 3 November and major figures from across the process and manufacturing sector came together to celebrate the hard work and commitment that companies and employees have made in training and skills development which points towards a bright future for the sector.

Master Fitter final highlights glazing skills
The final of the Master Fitter competition was held on 5 October at London’s Excel Centre as part of World Skills 2011, the world’s largest international skills competition. The six finalists came through a series of testing regional heats to reach the national final, where they competed for a top prize of £2,500.

National Award for Carnforth Student
The first ever DigIT! To BuildIT! Awards ceremony was held at Carnforth High School in Lancashire on 15th June with Year 9 student Tyler Davidson winning the top prize. The Carnforth students also visited Back Lane quarry, a site operated by Bardon Aggregates, a key sponsor.

The first ever DigIT! to BuildIT! Awards ceremony was held at Carnforth High School in Lancashire on 15th June with Jack Berridge of the Quarrying and Mining Journal presenting the prizes. The ceremony will recognise the achievements of the students who participated and draw attention to the opportunities available in the industry.

Graduate Exhibition Maps Route for 21st Century Glass

One of the highlights at the recent Northprint exhibition was the awards ceremony for the PrintIT! 2010/11 Competition, the sixth annual PrintIT! awards, which this year resulted in more than 16,700 students from 350 schools registering to take part.

WorldSkills UK competitions are open
WorldSkills UK is a set of vocational skills competitions. They happen annually and are managed in partnership with organisations from industry and education. Around 50 of these competitions are available in various skills from Architectural Stained Glass to Pop Music!

Manufacturing Growth Summit
The Advance Growth Manufacturing Summit on 25th January was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, Secretary of State Vince Cable, Minister for Industry (Mark Prisk), Minister for Skills (John Hayes), & Minister for Universities and Innovation (David Willetts) amongst other Ministers in order to take forward steps in forging growth in British Manufacturing.

PrintIT! Scotland Awards Ceremony
The inaugural PrintIT! Scotland Awards Ceremony took place on the afternoon of the 12th November in the Banqueting Suite of South Lanarkshire Council, and named Abigail Corsie from Kinross High School in Perthshire as the overall winner of the first PrintIT! Scotland 2010 competition.
