What is funded – the new Train to Gain Flexibilities
Funding is available for any individual without a Level 2 qualification or equivalent. The Compact gives special flexibility for key qualifications to be available for the first time through Train to Gain as ‘additional’ qualifications. This means that those employees that already hold a NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 can now be supported to achieve an additional Level 2 or Level 3. This flexibility is focussed on what employers have said are the most important qualifications to the sector.
In brief, the new flexibilities include:
- All vocational NVQ qualifications at Levels 2, 3 and 4 (Level 4 funding is available to Level 4 ‘jumpers’ only
- All age apprenticeships
- Skills for Life Qualifications, e.g. literacy, numeracy and English for speakers of other languages (ESOL)
- Management and Leadership (Companies with 5 – 250 employees via the SME flexibilities)
