Occupational standards
Proskills is responsible (in conjunction with employers) for the development of National Occupational Standards (NOS). The standards describe in detail what someone should be able to do and know in order to undertake their job to the industry specified standard. These standards or NOS can be used for a variety of purposes, but the most well known is for the development of qualifications. All emerging qualifications that are targeted at Proskills' sector have to be mapped against our NOS, and therefore show industry relevance.
Proskills regularly works with employers to identify new areas to develop or update existing NOS. As part of this process, we have to consult widely with industry and other bodies to ensure the resulting standard is fit for purpose. Visit our NOS consultation page here.
